Spokane City Water Quality Reports

City of Spokane

The WHS drinking water quality report presents findings from examinations conducted by the water service provider and shared with the Environmental Working Group through collaboration with the Washington State Department of Health. This includes data from the U.S. EPA Enforcement and Compliance History database (ECHO). In the most recent quarter evaluated by the U.S. EPA (January 2021 - March 2021), the tap water supplied by this particular water utility met the established federal health-based standards for drinking water.

Your water comes from the Spokane Valley Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer. The Spokane River is the largest source of water to the Spokane Valley Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer, and most water leaving the aquifer goes to the Spokane River.

Legal Doesn't Mean Safe

  • Meeting legal standards doesn't always equate to safety. A passing grade from federal authorities doesn't necessarily signify that the water aligns with the latest health guidelines.

  • It's been nearly two decades since the permissible levels of contaminants in tap water were last updated.

  • Preventing pollution from entering the source water is the most reliable method for ensuring clean tap water.
